Caught In A Cycle

Caught In A Cycle

20″ x 20″ Oil on Linen

This portrait painting is a mixture of painting styles utilizing traditional chiaroscuro techniques of creating volume with high contrasting light and dark pigments with higher chromatic colors and flat unfinished areas. For example, the canvas is still untouched in the top left hand, and adjacent to that is an eye that has a more refined and sculptural paint application.

This is not a portrait in a classic sense or meant to be confined to the direct representation of a specific person or moment in time. In this way, the viewer should see and experience what they want within the work, unbounded by time or dogma.
