Vertigo

Vertigo

21″ Diam – Oil Painting on Aluminum

Vertigo is a colorful painting of hands circling around the head of a male figure. Scott uses his unique subject matter and style to imaginatively create new portraits. In Vertigo the translucent colors and blending effects are meant to represent time passing, a fading moment, a memory or movement. Vertigo in particular holds a special meaning to the artist. Scott had a bout of vertigo around the same time this painting was composed, stemming from head and neck surgery and subsequent radiation therapy. Of course, with all of Scott’s work, the viewer may interpret the work in a multitude of ways. It is currently in the collection of The Biggs Museum of American Art and was showcased in 2019 at the annual awards figurative show called Biggs Body.
