Dreamtank - Work in Progress

The round (Tondo) composition of the aluminum support features multiple figures in the middle of the circular composition. The painting is both realistic and surreal. The synthetic and chromatically pure paints defy the traditionally painted figures, giving it a synthetic and emotive air. The figure is confined by the circle. creating a repeating pattern of feet,  heads and hands.  The repeated figure is meant to evoke the passage of time as one segmented figure fades into the other and continues in a never ending loop. What does it mean? Don't think too hard. This piece was just an interesting and fun design to make and I thought it looked like the figure was in the middle of a crazy dream, so I named it Dreamtank. "Dreamtank" can be dislayed in any direction.

Medusa - Hands envelope her

Medusa was my first attempt at composing a painting on an oval surface. This fantastically painted surrealistic piece contains my signature style of realism. The colors I used to describe the light and volume of the figure are vibrant and sharp. This haunting composition focuses in on the face surrounded by hands that pull, melt and protrude from her form. I composed the hands and fingers in such a way that they almost seem alive. Like the snakes in Medusa's hair.
